Frequently Asked Questions about Firewood
-
How do you convert 1 cubic meter of wood into weight (Meter vs Weight)?
As an approx only!. 1 tonne of seasoned REDGUM would equivalate to approx. 2.2 cubic meters, however, to understand properly you have to take the species of wood used into account. For example, IRONBARK is an extremely dense and heavy wood, this changes the visual volume of 500kg when compared to REDGUM. In respect to compared volume, IRONBARK will burn hotter and longer due to its dense characteristics. Overall 500 kg of Ironbark can burn longer than 500 kg of REDGUM under the same circumstances, even though volumes will differ. We use trade approved, NMI standard scales to ensure that you are getting the most accurate measurement, every time. As long as you are burning seasoned dry wood (under 20% moisture) this will show no significate affect to the weight. When buying by the cubic meter, you should always check that an actual cubic meter cage or line is used to get what you pay for, stacked neat and tightly as possible, not loosely thrown in or loosely loaded in a front end loader bucket.
